Festool 498410 Self-Clean Filter Bag for CT MINI 5-Pack

The new self-cleaning filter bags developed by Festool for their CT MINI dust extractor address a common issue that plagues other dust extractors and vacuums. During regular use, fine dust particles cling to the inner lining of the filter bag, resulting in caking. This dust coating significantly reduces the effective suction power, leading to poor extraction efficiency and performance. Caking can also put additional strain on the dust extractor's motor, potentially contributing to premature failure.

Festool has addressed this problem by creating a unique, pliable fleece filter bag. Unlike rigid paper bags, the flexible nature of the Festool bag prevents caking. This means that the CT 36 dust extractor can maintain full suction power until the bag is virtually completely full. In contrast, other manufacturers' filter bags do not effectively counter the caking effect, and suction is drastically reduced throughout the bag's use, often resulting in the loss of suction before the bag is entirely full. This can lead to paying full price for a partially used bag.

The Festool filter bag also serves as a pre-filter, capable of trapping dust particles as small as five millionths of a meter, or 5 microns, which is approximately the size of a red blood cell. By capturing these tiny particles, in addition to larger debris, the bag extends the lifespan of the main HEPA filter, reducing wear and tear and the cost of frequent filter replacement.

Bag disposal is quick and mess-free, thanks to an integrated closure that seals the opening and prevents spilling. The tear-resistant material is designed to prevent bag blowouts, which can be a hassle to clean up.
